9:30am  –  “SHOW US WHAT YOU GOT!”   /   BACK TO BASICS RIDING CLASS

Evaluations:
We get out on the pavement for this group evaluation of basic riding skills.  Riding evaluation is part of every N.R.S.   There is no pass / fail.   Evaluation is part of why you’re here, and it can help shed light on individual improvement.  So…  Enjoy this, and learn!    After that, we will take everyone  Back To Basics and riding fundamentals.

Back To Basics Riding Class:
Even if you’ve been riding for a long time… Even if you think you’re pretty good….

This class breaks down the basic building blocks of the Trikke motion.   Many long-time riders have no idea what bad habits they have and why.   So, If you’ve never had any formalized instruction, then this process will be helpful in building a good foundation for all the other exercises and techniques you’ll learn over the next two days.     (Classes will be broken up into basic skills levels.)

11:00am  –  4:00pm:    SAT.  INSTRUCTIONAL RIDING EXCURSION   –  (Gateway Arch)

Parking lot classes are great and often offer a pristine, controlled environment.   But Instructional Excursions are a fun way to get solid Trikke training in the real world.  Here’s what your Saturday Riding Skkool adventure will hold….

Hit The Road:   We load up and travel via caravan to the meet up site where we’ll hook up with the trail, and gear up for an awesome instructional riding adventure.   Today will include some trail riding w/ stops for riding training sessions as we go explore the spectacular Gateway Arch like you’ve never seen it before.

Riding Instruction:   Riding coaching will cover riding techniques & exercises for everyone from the beginner to the advanced rider.   Which instructional elements will make the biggest difference for you?….

Rhythm & Balance?  Learning “The Gears”? Acceleration?  Each riding level will touch on all of these and more.

(Please See “Riding Classes Breakdown” below for more Info on all aspects of the various riding classes.)

Trikke Touring:   We’ll also have the benefit of local knowledge and guidance from Bill Smith of Trikke STL, which made the “Best Of St Louis” winners list in 2015.  Bill is also helping guide Trikke Academy in St Louis as a  Regional Trikke Academy Location.   St. Louis is a historic place. And along with loads of helpful training in all things Trikke, you’re also going to see it from a whole different perspective.

OH… And of course, we’ll break for lunch.

Back To The Barn:   We’ll be back to the hotel in time for you to clean up, take a dip in the pool, answer emails, …whatever.  Then, get ready to meet up again later that evening for some Saturday night social time with new friends.  There’s always lots to talk about.  After all, you can probably bet that today they worked as hard as you did!

(OFFICIAL BREAK FOR THE DAY)

7:00pm  –   EVENING GROUP HANGTIME!   (Optional)

6:30 – Lobby Pre-Meet Up /Greet Up

Time to relax and  enjoy some hang time with new friends….  Join us at (?brewery restaurant?)  just a stone’s throw away from the hotel.    We may even do a group song.  ….” Whooo let the Trikkes out!?  Woot Woot.”

And after a full day of Riding Evaluation, Lessons, Excursion, etc ….there will be LOTS to talk about.

Join us in the conference room for this sit down, morning class session focused on Q&A.  It’s an opportunity to think through and talk through some of the physical elements you experienced the previous day.   Optional but highly recommended.  This is a very popular session about the why and the how of a Trikke carving vehicle.

It  will help you wrap your head around what you were feeling yesterday, and has led to more than a few “Ah Ha” moments.    After that, we’re heading out to work on what is, by far, the toughest park of the Trikke experience.  You guessed it…. hill climbing.   (We might even get in a little Tech time!)

Rhythm & Balance?  Learning “The Gears”? Acceleration?  Each riding level will touch on all of these and more.

(Please See “Elements of Certified Trikke Riding Classes” below for more Info on the various aspects of riding classes and the

OH… And of course, we’ll take a break for lunch.     As we end our Forest Park adventure, we’ll head back to our meet up spot for our official wrap up of the 2017 National Riding Skkool.

N.R.S…  IT’S A WRAP!  SHINDIG
(Raffle & Giveaways  /  “Best Of..” winners, gifts, etc. /  Thanks & Acknowledgements  / Q & A Time  / Etc. )
This is an N.R.S. tradition!  We’ll enjoy our last remaining time in lovely Forest Park with the chance for some fun social time.   BUT….  As we finish up a great weekend of learning, there will be big questions to answer!

Like:    Who will be voted Most Improved?   Or… Coolest Helmet?   …OR…  Best Helmet Hair?   Stay Tuned!

OFFICIAL END Of The 8th Annual Trikke NATIONAL RIDING SKKOOL

And Back To The Barn:  After a great weekend of learning, It’s time to load up and head back to the hotel.   NOTE:  If you have a long drive or need to get to the airport, you can easily plan to leave directly from the Park immediately after our It’s a Wrap session.

Staying through Monday??   We’re also working on some un-official evening options for anyone interested!

Next Year’s Theme?….   Versatility!  –  Urban?  …or Coastal?  …or Rural?

(Which sounds best to you?  Feel free to tell us your thoughts.)

ANOTHER N.R.S. ELEMENTS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT!

TESTING FOR IMPROVEMENT

(For NRS Attendees, this is your time to see how you’ve improved from the beginning of the weekend.   We encourage everyone to take part in this.  It will be a run through the same evaluation course to test your developing skills and your comfort zone.   It’s an opportunity to feel the difference as you go.  This is normally a weekend favorite.)   Evaluation Course Repeat – (Timed)

BASIC ELEMENTS Of CERTIFIED TRIKKE RIDING CLASSES:

Acceleration Exercises & Techniques:
(Low Gear – upper body work  /  Coil Spring -core work   /  Stop-Start Drills  )

Now is the time to get your core & upper body (your coil spring)  truly engaged, and start to build real power in your ride.  Just like your car, you want top harness acceleration when & where you need it.  So,… Are you a 4 cylinder or an 8 cylinder?   Time to find out.

Learning “The Gears”:
(Turn vs. Lean  /  Shifting techniques = shifting gears  /  Upper body-Lower body transitions )

There are different techniques for going 1-6 mph,  or 6-12 mph,  or 12-17 mph.
Everyone knows that with any type of body-powered vehicle, you are the motor that makes it go.
But “gears” classes are about understanding your “transmission”.

Rhythm & Balance Exercises & Techniques:
(Rhythm Change-ups  /  Musical Trikkes  /  Skate vs. Ski )

This class will focus on riding exercises designed to bring out balance and control using rhythm as the platform.   Rhythm change ups will challenge your timing and your balance, taking you beyond the 1-2 stroke.  “Multi-stroke” exercises help you get ready to dance your CV.)

Protecting Momentum:
(High Gear – lower body work  /  Skkootchin’   /  Riding the momentum wave )

Trikke is all about….  Building momentum.   Harnessing momentum.   Protecting momentum.
If you’ve ever “run out of steam” and wondered why, these exercises and techniques are meant to keep you rolling and get you over the hump.  …so to speak.
