2013 RIDING CLINIKKS WEEKEND - Las Vegas - October 12th - 13th

Our 2012 Riding Clinikks Weekend and Last Academy of the year was a great success.  So, this year we'll be doing it all over again.  October will mark our last Trikke Academy of the year.   And it will all be happening in conjunction with a full weekend of Riding Clinikks!

We have gotten such great feedback from our very popular Local Riding Clinikks, which are held during our traveling Academies.  From that we have developed a 2 day Riding Clinikks weekend where you design your own package based on your riding skill.  All classes are broken up into small groups of no more then 6 riders.  Small classes means more dedicated instruction.

For our last Academy of the year, we’re blowing out all the stops!   Come enjoy gorgeous October weather in beautiful LasVegas, Nevada with a full weekend of riding instruction. …and it’s served up‘a la carte!

Choose from a variety of riding workkshops, and customize your own package to create your own Clinikk experience.  There are 3 different levels of workkshops taught by a variety of instructors, including advanced workshops with Fred Welch (Trikke Academy Director)  &  Gildo Beleski (Trikke Inventor/Designer)
.

This location is our very own Trikke sports complex:

-over 70,000 square feet of riding space…
-spectacular views of both the mountains and the Vegas strip,
-multiple ramps for a variety of hill climbing workkshops,
-evening social time with other riders from all over the world via a Trikke Rink
        (imagine skating rink with Trikkes)

If you’re interested in finishing up this 2013 riding season by getting your riding game on, then this All Clinikks Weekend is just the thing for you.

October is just around the corner.  Now is the time to get your game (groove) on.

WHAT ARE THE CLINIKK TRAINING LEVELS?

If you see Level 1, 2, or 3 marked on a particular clinikk class, that's our way of helping you figure out how much you'll really get out of that class.  You want to get the most out of your time, but it's also tough when you're brain and your body are on information overload.  So, you don't want to pick classes that are too far beyond your riding skill.   If you have questions, feel free to call us so we can help you decide which classes may be right for you.  (Class registration will open Aug 15).

LEVEL 1 =  This is truly beginner riding.  You may have just started, or maybe even been riding for quite some time.  But, if you can't start from a dead stop, or get much over 8 miles per hour, then it's time to start with the basic fundamentals of riding.   Building a good foundation will make you a better rider, able to move on and advance your riding skills.

LEVEL 2 =  You've got the basics down, but just don't really know where to take it from there...  Can you lean well?  Do you feel like you can really use your legs for max power in your stroke?  Can you accelerate quickly, and keep speed on a moderate incline?    If not,... Then you'd better click in to these clinikks and broaden your skills.
(please feel free to consult with us on which classes may be right for you.)

LEVEL 3 =   This is advanced riding.  To participate comfortably in this level of classes, you should feel you have a pretty good handle on these key areas:  acceleration, center of gravity & balance, power.  Your legs should already be your biggest power generator, and upper body / lower body coordination should be spot on.  ...or, at least close to spot on.   Think you're ready? ...Now's the time to kick it up a notch.

LIST OF BEGINNER & INTERMEDIATE RIDING CLASSES
Level 1 / Level 2

New Rider Orientation   –  (50 min - Level 1 Class)
If this is your first time at a Trikke Academy event, this New Rider Orientation class is mandatory.  We will do a full vehicle inspection, along with a Rider Evaluation course so you can "show us what you got".

The New Rider Orientation is included in your registration fee, and is a great opportunity for us to make sure both, your vehicle and YOU are safe to ride.
(If you’ve already take an Academy clinikk, feel free to waive this part if you like!)

Back to Basics   - (50 min - Level 1 Class)

How does a carving vehicle work?    How do you harness momentum?  What part of my body is supposed to be working when?     Let me guess.... you taught yourself, right? .   It's time to get back to basics.
(This class is mandatory for all new clinikk attendees.)

Learning the Gears   –  (50 min - Level 1 Class)

You are the motor that makes a Trikke Carving Vehicle go.  What you may not know is that you are also the "transmission".    There are no levers to push or pull, so shifting gears is all up to you.  If you're stuck at 6 mph, this class will be perfect for you.

Acceleration Basics -  (50 min - Level 1 Class)

Getting up to speed is one of the biggest hurdles to new (and even some not so new) riders.   You judge a car's motor and transmission by its 0 to 60 rate.   What's yours?   This is about harnessing power right out of the gate.  (*Highly recommended for anyone still skkooter pushing to take off.)

Rhythm & Balance  -  (50 min - Level 2 Class)

Balance and coordination are two of the primary benefits that a carving vehicle has to offer. Rhythm & timing are key componants to any good rider and can truly help to increase your competance.

Learn how to change up your stroke, while staying in the groove.   This class will add flexibility, and confidence to your ride.

Rotation Exercises Class  (multiple instructors)  - (50 min- Level 2 Class)

This is about putting it all together.  Rotate through different instructors as you move quickly through a variety of training exercises.   It's time to break up some of that old muscle memory, while getting multiple points of view.

Intro To Inclines   -   (50 min - Level 2 Class)

We consider an incline to be from flat ground to a 5 degree grade. (Not %. Degrees.) Steeper than that, and you're on a hill. For most riders, their normal terrain is rarely all flat ground. Let's face it, life is full of inclines. Powering up and over them is one of the best challenges Trikke has to offer. It requires real power in your stroke, and a serious ability to seamlessly shift gears. It takes determination and skill. The more skill, the less determination needed. In this "Intro To Inclines" class, you'll learn key exercises that will help get you started on your hill climbing goals. It's time to find your "oomph"! “

(FYI, a Level 3 Trikke Trainer must be able to navigate up at least a 10 degree hill, - starting from a dead stop on the hill. (Curious about what degree YOUR hill is? Yup… There’s an app for that. “)

LIST OF ADVANCED LEVEL RIDING CLASSES
                                                  Level 3

Mastering Acceleration   -  (50 min - Level  3  Class)

Ok...  So, you've started to get the process of shifting gears, and acceleration is starting to kick in for you.   Now, all you need is some power in that motor of yours, and the ability to broaden your stroke.   How about when you're cruising along at 10mph, and need to step on the gas (so to speak)...  17mph is approx top speed for a CV at full stroke.  This class may help you get there.

- Taught by Fred Welch

Practical Trikks  (…and a few impractical!)   (50 min - Level  3 Class)

"3 point turns... popping curbs... and the ever popular, 180 & 360... Taught by Gildo Beleski. Need we say more?"

HILLS CLINIKKS:

Hill Climbing Class & Workkhop  -  (50 min  - Level 3 Class)

For some, Hill Climbing is the brass ring of Trikke.   To do it right, everything must be working together, -from your hands to your feet, all connected by your core (your coil spring).   It's actually more about coordination than it is about strength.   But taking a bite out of the hill with every turn does still require some ooomph.  We'll show you how to get it, as we work on three separate, 9 degree parking ramps.   (Remember, there will only be one Hill Climbing class - Sunday at 1:30pm.  Demonstration starts at 1pm and is open to all.  Don't miss it!)

(Fact:  To achieve "Hill Climber" status, a Certified Trikke Trainer must complete at least 6 consecutive turns up a 10 degree hill with proper technique, starting from a dead stop on the hill.  Hill Climbing masters currently top out at 16-17 degrees.)

- Taught by Fred Welch & Gildo Beleski

Down Hilling -  (50 min - Level 3 Class)

What is "downhilling"?   It's not bombing straight down at top speed.  This is where balance, coordination, grace, and nerve all come together to allow you to really "ski the street".  Control is the name of the game;  controlling acceleration, controlling your descent.  No brakes, just technique.  In this case, speed is your enemy, and slow, controlled, gracefully carved, tight turns is what you're trying to achieve.   This is a very different type of challenge.  And, it has nothing to do with "oomph" & strength.    So, if you think Hill Climbing is the brass ring of Trikke,...  think again.

- Taught by Fred Welch

Tech - Maintance Basics - (50 min)

This is your sport.  Knowing your gear is important.  We'll start from the ground up, and this class will cover all the basics for getting to know your Trikke Carving Vehicle, and keeping it in tiptop shape.   This class is not about riding, but you don't have to be a gear-head to get some serious benefit out of this class.

“Hands On. You get the drift… ”

 - Taught by Andy Pliska

Optional - ELECTRIKKS 101 w/ RIDING CLASS (Cost $25 )

“Whether you own, or are thinking of owning a Trikke Pon-E, you don't want to miss this class. It is simply different riding to front-wheel-driven power. Many people feel that the Pon-E also happens to be a great training tool. You may want to come to this class and find out why.” )

Note: This class is BYO-EV (Rental may be available
